How many times have you heard, “change is good”? But most of the time, we don’t feel that way! It goes against human nature to “like” change. The only constant in today’s workplace is change, and quite often it happens before we are able to mentally prepare for it. Change can be positive and it can be out of our control. But change is inevitable in order for businesses to survive and thrive, as organizations undergo reorganizations and change strategies. Yet these changes usually leave us feeling uneasy, uncomfortable and full of anxiety. In order for us to better handle change at work, we must first understand how it impacts us. And ultimately, for our own well-being, we must learn to overcome the anxiety and embrace the change.
