Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is the "other kind of smart.” It affects how we manage behavior, navigate social interactions, and make personal decisions to achieve positive results. These skills also shape how an individual responds, communicates, interacts and works with other people. Self-improvement in the Emotional Intelligence arena will ultimately improve your connections with others and enhance your leadership abilities.

What Emotional Intelligence IS:

  • How leaders handle themselves and their relationships – “the thing” that makes some people succeed over others
  • A flexible set of skills that can be studied upon and improved
  • The ability to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior

Training content

Emotional Intelligence is a one-day course that covers the following four major dimensions:

  • Self-Awareness – The ability to perceive your own emotions and how they affect your thoughts and behavior, know your strengths and weaknesses, and have self-confidence.
  • Self-Management – The ability to control impulsive feelings and behaviors, manage your emotions in healthy ways, follow through on commitments and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Social Awareness – The ability to understand the emotions, needs and concerns of other people, pick up on emotional cues, feel comfortable socially, and recognize the power of dynamics in a group or organization.
  • Relationship-Management – The ability to use your awareness of your own emotions and those of others to develop and maintain good relationships, communicate clearly, inspire and influence others, work well in a team and manage conflict.
