Public Speaking Fundamentals: Content, Confidence and Clarity

This training program will provide your team the fundamentals of effective public speaking and presentation skills. All content is customized to your team’s unique goals and challenges.

Mindset and Confidence

Stage fright, intimidation in front of certain audiences, and overall confidence in one’s message are common challenges for new public speakers. Even experienced professionals can have lingering insecurities, nervousness, or anxiety around their presentation skills.

We will get to the root of these mindset challenges and develop effective strategies to gradually reduce negative beliefs, build authentic confidence and feel empowered around presentations. Our approach focuses on building genuine confidence and comfort in front of audiences, and has successfully helped students of all ages and from all industries and backgrounds overcome debilitating stage fright and anxiety, and confidently present their message.

Verbal Communication

Effective verbal delivery includes everything from word choice, grammar and narrative to presentation structure, story selection, and the proper use of data. Developing a persuasive message builds confidence in your team. And a great message is critical for any team that needs to make an impact on clients, senior executives or other stakeholders.

To refine your team’s verbal content, we will do multiple practice presentation drills and exercises. Participants will receive feedback on word choice, memorability, stories and anecdotes, and their overall presentation structure. They will receive guidance and best practices on rhetorical devices, introductions and conclusions, how to pose questions to the audience, and many other tools and techniques.

Practice speeches are recorded, transcribed, and analyzed word-for-word. Deep analysis includes their speaking speed, information density and other metrics to get a clear and objective reading on their verbal content.

Nonverbal Communication and Body Language

Nonverbal behaviors like body movement, posture, hand gestures, and facial expressions make a huge impact on the presentation. Nonverbal communication improves with confidence, consistent practice and rehearsal. Participants will practice their delivery again and again, and will receive specific feedback and guidelines for improvement.

Videos of prominent speakers and presenters (relevant to your industry, functional area and team goals) will be analyzed for reference. Participant progress is tracked throughout the program.
