This seminar has been developed to enhance the capabilities of experienced HR professionals and employment law attorneys through its highly interactive and practical approach modelling real-life situations that HR professionals confront.

Participants analyze specific situations; evaluate the potential legal risks; weigh those risks against the needs and philosophy of their organization; and propose solutions to each identified problem. Every workshop is constructed in an interactive format with different subjects, topics, issues of the day, and case studies.

Participants will hone their decision-making skills relating to HR risk assessment and control issues and topics facing HR teams on a daily basis.

Training Content

Through the use of hypothetical case studies, will help you to identify critical issues, tactical approaches, strategic planning, risk assessment set this dynamic workshop apart from any other program available for experience HR professionals. Over two days you will learn to look at your day-to-day responsibilities in a completely different light by attacking rulings and workplace issues on topics such as:

  • FMLA
  • Wage and Hour
  • Harassment
  • Age Discrimination
  • Hiring/Firing
  • Succession Planning

in a no nonsense, head-on manner. You will become confident in assessing risk, developing action plans, identifying legal factors, determining qualifications based upon facts, assessing timetables, reassign your organization's strategies, knowing what "really is legal".

The Workshop will be taught using:

  1. Factual situations addressed by the class as a whole;
  2. Factual situations evaluated through small groups;
  3. Hypothetical role playing (using willing classroom volunteers);
  4. Limited lecture intended to analyze the hypothetical fact situations within the context of the law.

While a number of factual situations and case studies will be utilized, one particular case study will be considered in several stages: investigation, analysis of the facts, application of the decision, and response to a legal challenge. This specific case study will culminate in the presentation of legal argument and trial testimony. Subjects will range across a variety of substantive areas and "real-HR-world" topics and decision-making issues including:

  • Analyzing hiring and discharge decisions in the context of potential discrimination, retaliation and wrongful discharge claims
  • Evaluating ways to implement management changes without creating legal risk or substantial adverse employee response
  • Addressing behaviors at union and non-union locations that create the need for discipline
  • Creating feasible performance feedback methods
  • Managing employee/employer feedback and expectations resulting from surveys, compliance issues and audits


The cost of this course is $1,575.00.

This fee includes the workshop manual, coffee breaks and a reception the first evening.

Past participants of this workshop are entitled to a $100.00 discount, upon request at the time of registration.
