Commercial Real Estate is an area with many areas of opportunity for debt providers and equity investors to invest in and finance transactions.However, the industry is not without risks as real estate values are extremely sensitive to underlying economic fundamentals, financial markets and interest rates. Other factors influencing Commercial Real Estate values and performance are the quality, lease terms, tenant risk, market sector and geographic focus. Because of this, it is essential to understand the specific associated with each transaction.
Participants in this five-day Certificate in Real Estate Investments will “learning by doing” with the help of case studies and examples of specific transactions, where feasible. There will one or two core case studies used throughout the programme that use an example of single asset financing and a Commercial Real Estate Company. These will be supplemented by other cases / exercises that illustrate issues specific to the programme.

Training content
Case studies studied in this programme will:
- Mostly focus on the main types of Commercial Real Estate – office, retail and industrial. There will be limited coverage of hotel financing
- Concentrate on large scale transactions involving both single pieces of Commercial Real Estate or portfolios / corporate financing
- Relate to the financing of single asset companies, both developments and existing investments as well as Commercial Real Estate companies and Real Estate Investment Trusts
