ILM Know Your Company
This course has been designed to give the practicing or aspiring first line manager an understanding of the company as an entity and the the implication of that legal entity on the structure, leadership and management of the organisation.It will allow the manager to describe the operational functions within an organisation, to identify roles and span ofcontrol and to describe the roles and responsibilities of managers at different levels of an organisation.
The course will also allow the manager to develop knowledge and understanding of leadership as required by a practising or potential first line manager, to understand leadership styles and leadership qualities and to review their own leadership qualities and potential with their organisational context.
Who should attend?
This program is particularly suited to practicing team leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management, as well as managers who need to lead people through organizational change, budget cuts and/or other pressures.Prerequisite Participants will normally be either practising or aspiring managers. Although there are no formal requirements, learners should have a background what will enable them to benefit from the course.

Unit 2: Understanding leadershipUnderstand leadership styles»» Describe the factors that will influence the choice ofleadership styles or behaviours in workplace situations»» Explain why these leadership styles or behavioursare likely to have a positive or negative effect onindividual and group behaviour
Understand leadership qualities and review ownleadership qualities and potential»» Assess own leadership behaviours and potential inthe context of a particular leadership model and ownorganisation’s working practices and culture, usingfeedback from others»» Describe appropriate actions to enhance ownleadership behaviour in the context of the particularleadership model
