ILM Writing for Business
Modern businesses communicate in more diverse ways in today’s society than at any other time in human his- tory. Having an understanding of how to use these tools effectively is more important now than ever.
Despite this, there is very little in the way of educa- tion as to how best to approach these varying com- munication channels and how to make the best use of them – with the result that people develop their own individual approaches and as a result communi- cation can often break down.
This 3-day workshop seeks to address this dispari- ty by breaking down business communication, with particular emphasis on written communications, into its component parts and from there demonstrat- ing how to effectively engage your audience. It will make you a more effective communicator by giving you some tools and techniques that you will be able to apply in the workplace.

1.Gain core skills on Planning for writing, including use of available information and the needs of the recipient
2.Learn about core Report structures in or- der to meet standard and specific require- ments (ILM and/or in-company formats)
3.Thorough information on the stages in communication: sender -encoding – trans- mission – decoding - receiver
4.What is the importance of Active listening, verbal and non-verbal communication
5.Develop techniques in assessing own communication skills through feedback and reflection
