Microsoft® Office Excel® 2010: PowerPivot

PowerPivot is a free add-in that expands and combines the features and capabilities of PivotTables with advanced calculations. It also includes the ability to import and work with large amounts of data from a variety of data sources.

This course is intended to help all new PowerPivot users get up to speed on how it works and its feature set. We will cover different features of the interface, techniques for manipulating PowerPivot data, how to create PowerPivot reports, the structure of DAX functions, and ways to distribute PowerPivot data.

Training Content

Getting Started With PowerPivot

In this lesson, students will explore the PowerPivot application, import data from various sources, refresh that data, and create linked tables.

Manipulating PowerPivot Data

This lesson covers organizing and formatting tables, creating calculated columns, sorting and filtering PowerPivot data, creating table relationships, and managing those relationships.

Creating PowerPivot Reports

Next, students will learn how to create PivotTables and PivotCharts from PowerPivot data. Slicers, Sparklines, and conditional formatting are also covered.

Using DAX Functions in PowerPivot

This lesson covers DAX functions, filter functions, and time intelligence functions.

Distributing PowerPivot Data

This lesson will teach students how to protect and save PowerPivot data.
