Hazardous Waste Management Specialist (HMS)

This course will provide a student with the knowledge of how to properly identify, accumulate, minimize, and ship hazardous waste. You will learn how to develop a contingency plan and how to comply with land disposal restrictions. The course provides a comprehensive overview of the latest regulatory requirements, waste exemptions and exclusions, universal waste requirements, VOC standards for hazardous waste generators, and waste minimization requirements.

Performance Outcomes:

The individual will possess the knowledge to develop the elements of a hazardous waste management and minimization plan, a hazardous waste contingency plan, as well as understand the reporting requirements for spills and/or leaks of HAZMATs.
