Overview

Credit: 3 PDH

Length: 31 pages

It's no secret that the Southwestern part of the U.S. is one of the driest regions in the country. Given that water is so precious and scarce in the Southwestern U.S., it is particularly important for municipalities in the Southwest to encourage water use efficiency - both on the supply-side and the demand-side.

This course covers water use efficiency measures in the Southwestern U.S. outlined by Western Resource Advocates in their document Smart Water: A Comparative Study of Urban Water Use Across the Southwest*. Much can be learned about water use efficiency by engineers across the U.S. by studying supply-side and demand-side water conservation measures being taken in the barren Southwestern U.S.
