Influence Without Authority Training
Influence is the art and science of leading other people to want an outcome you desire—at the same time, they feel good about the outcome, themselves and you.
TrainSMART’s Influence Without Authority Training workshop addresses business situations such as team interactions and the necessity to enlist others. This course will provide language, tactics, tools, and models to influence outcomes without direct power.
Influence Without Authority will also allow participants to apply to learn to a supplied case or their own situation.

- What does influence mean?
- Why and how we can influence from anywhere in a system
- Three Ways We Influence: What We Think, What We Say, What We Do
- What We Think: Tactics that utilize new insights from Brain Science
- What We Say: Powerful language tactics including phrases, questions, framing and listening
- What We Do: Tactics that use our bodies, timing, and actions
- Putting it all together

Participants will learn to. . .
- Understand both the “art” and the “science” of influence
- Identify situations where influence is appropriate
- Understand how the brain responds to attempts at influence and how to turn that to advantage
- Use tools, tactics, and language of influence in three categories: what we think, what we say and what we do
- Understand the systemic nature of influence
- Use empathy, reciprocity and emotional sensitivity to enlist the help of others
- Frame a “case” to influence people’s points of view
- Utilize previous reference experiences in current situations
