Introduction to HTML and CSS Training

HTML and CSS represent the languages at the core of the web, acting as the foundation of front-end development. Participants of this e-learning program will learn not only how to implement the languages in terms of syntax, but also learn the additional elements of front-end development. More than just a web development course, learners of this program will learn where and how to approach a given task. All course material is designed to put the participant in the shoes of a front-end developer and to get them thinking and problem solving as such.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be prepared to:

  • convert digital design mockups into static web pages.
  • approach page layout
  • break down a design mockup into page elements
  • implement that in HTML and CSS.
  • utilize responsive design techniques, used heavily for mobile devices and TV screens

Who should attend?

This course is designed for anyone hoping to gain a clea understanding of HTML and CSS in order to work as front-end web developers. 


All participants are expected to be able to install and use use a text editor for editing your web pages - ideally Atom or Sublime Text, although other editors withe the ability to highlight code syntax will work. Participants are also expected to be able to download and use Google Chrome, as this is the browser that will be used to examine developer tools during the course.

Training content

This Introduction to HTML and CSS course is divided into three lessons, including:

  • From Design to Code

Diligently employ a code/test/refine strategy as you precisely and deliberately translate initial design documents into static web pages. You'll also investigate the Document Object Model (DOM) and its implications for web development.

  • Your Own Framework

Take pride in creating and personalising your own multi-platform, responsive CSS framework for publishing your professional portfolio projects to the web.

  • Learning and Using Bootstrap

Strategically investigate an existing professional CSS framework as you use it to build a website using responsive design principles while maintaining code readability.
