Course description
Leadership in the nonprofit sector is about guiding and empowering people and organizations in efforts that further the common good. It involves the management of diverse groups of individuals – including board members, staff and volunteers – enabling them to work together toward impactful solutions. Nonprofit leaders must be able to deal with complex, challenging problems and bring about real, lasting change for the benefit of society.
This certificate program will help nonprofit professionals and those looking to enter the field to become confident leaders and prepare them to guide both emerging and established organizations in tackling our world’s most pressing needs.
Training content
- Examine assumptions about leadership principles, practices, biases, and tendencies
- Design or revise an organizational and governance structure that pursues the mission and realizes the vision
- Analyze the financial health of the organization, budget for optimal programming, and formulate goals and strategies to attain long-term financial sustainability
- Learn techniques on how to optimize performance of staff and volunteers.
- Outline an evaluation system to monitor program execution and to measure program impact
