Course description

The Process of Leadership

Whether you are a people manager with lots of experience or only a little, chances are there are some areas of leadership that could help boost you to the next level and cause your team to want to do well just because you, their awesome leader, asked them to. In this course, which can be customized based on leadership experience, you will learn to distinguish between management and leadership, and to understand how your own personal biases impact your results. You'll also have a safe space to practice using experiential learning techniques.

In the process of leadership we provide participants with a toolkit to help them lead effectively with confidence. Our active and dynamic teaching style makes this course fun, enjoyable, and allows participants to apply learning right away in-class and on the job. In this off-the-shelf or custom program new managers or individual contributors can explore key leadership concepts including: self-awareness and personality types, diversity and inclusion, management skills, delegation, situational leadership, coaching, performance management, time management, project management, and change management.

After completing this course, participants will:

  • Understand the importance of self-awareness and being a great leader
  • Understand the MBTI personality types and how best to work with others with different styles than ourselves
  • Understand the key concepts of diversity and inclusion and how to optimize working relationships and lead diverse teams
  • Differentiate between key leadership and management skills
  • Understand and differentiate between delegation, coaching and use situational leadership to achieve optimal results for your team
  • Recognize and apply performance management frameworks to drive results and performance
  • Learn and apply time management and project management strategies to optimize your ability to deliver results through your team
  • Understand and apply key change management principles for both small incremental change and transformational change activities
  • Help teams minimize change resistance and maintain productivity during times of change
